Fiverr’s headline is simple: it keeps 20%. Three other things decide what actually reaches you. The buyer pays a separate service fee at checkout that never touches your earnings but changes what your Gig really costs them. Every tip and every extra added mid-order is a separate payment, charged again on both sides. And the money then waits 7 to 14 days before it leaves through PayPal or Payoneer, which charge per withdrawal. The calculator above shows your side and the buyer’s side of one order line by line, in US dollars, the currency Fiverr keeps every balance in.

Four of them catch sellers out:
- Tips lose 20% too. You receive 80% of every tip, and a tip clears 14 days after it’s paid, separately from the order.
- Your coupon is your cost. Fiverr’s 20% is charged on the discounted price, so the whole discount comes out of your side: a 10% coupon on a $100 order leaves you $72.00 instead of $80.00.
- The small order fee now reaches $199.99. Since September 2025 buyers pay $3.50 on every purchase under $200; it used to be under $100. Many guides, and one of Fiverr’s own help pages, still quote $3 under $100.
- Withdrawal fees are per withdrawal, not per order. Withdrawing each small order on its own repeats the $1 or $3 fee.
What you keep at common prices
| Gig price | Total fees | Fee rate | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| $25.00 | $8.00 | 32.0% | $17.00 |
| $50.00 | $13.00 | 26.0% | $37.00 |
| $75.00 | $18.00 | 24.0% | $57.00 |
| $100.00 | $23.00 | 23.0% | $77.00 |
| $150.00 | $33.00 | 22.0% | $117.00 |
| $200.00 | $43.00 | 21.5% | $157.00 |
| $300.00 | $63.00 | 21.0% | $237.00 |
| $500.00 | $103.00 | 20.6% | $397.00 |
| $1,000.00 | $203.00 | 20.3% | $797.00 |
Fiverr’s 20% is the same at every price, so the flat $3 withdrawal is what makes small orders worse: fees take 32.0% of a $25 order and 20.3% of a $1,000 one. Withdraw to PayPal for free and you keep exactly 80% at every price.
How the fees add up on one order
A $150 order with a $20 tip, withdrawn to PayPal:
- Buyer pays in total$186.35
- of which service fee (5.5%) (paid by the buyer)5.5% × $150.00$8.25
- of which small order fee (paid by the buyer)$3.50 on purchases under $200.00$3.50
- of which service fee on the tip (paid by the buyer)5.5% × $20.00 + $3.50$4.60
- Sale amount$170.00
- Fiverr commission (20%)20% × $150.00−$30.00
- Commission on the tip (20%)20% × $20.00−$4.00
- Withdrawal: PayPalFree$0.00
- You keep$136.00
The buyer pays $186.35 in two payments: the $150 order plus $8.25 (5.5%) and the $3.50 small order fee, then the $20 tip with its own $4.60 service fee. Fiverr keeps $30.00 of the order and $4.00 of the tip, and you receive $136.00. The order clears 14 days after it’s marked complete, the tip 14 days after it was paid, and the PayPal withdrawal is free.
The buyer’s side: 5.5% and the $200 line
Fiverr’s service fee is paid by the buyer, so it never reduces your earnings, but it decides what your Gig really costs. Every purchase pays 5.5%, and anything under $200 adds a flat $3.50. On cheap Gigs that flat fee dominates: a $5 Gig costs the buyer $8.78 and a $10 Gig $14.05.
The $200 line creates a cliff. At $199.99 the buyer pays $214.49 and you receive $159.99; at $200.00 the buyer pays $211.00 and you receive $160.00. If your package sits just under $200, rounding it up costs the buyer less and pays you more. The calculator flags this whenever your price is between $180 and $200.
Each payment is charged on its own, so extras the buyer adds after the order starts, and tips, pay the service fee again. Buyers in some countries also pay VAT, GST or US state sales tax, which the calculator leaves out. In Mexico, South Africa and the UAE that VAT is charged on Fiverr’s 20% plus the service fee rather than on the whole order.
Hourly contracts
Hourly work is billed every Monday for the hours on the previous week’s report. You keep 80% of the hourly rate × hours, the client pays 5.5% on top, and there is no small order fee. Instead the client pays a one-time $5 order initiation fee when they accept your hourly offer. Ten hours at $30 pays you $240.00 and costs the client $321.50 in the first week. Fiverr’s minimum hourly rate is $7.25, and hourly earnings clear 7 days after each weekly report is completed. Early Payout isn’t available on hourly orders.
Getting paid: clearance, withdrawals and taxes
Earnings clear 14 days after an order is marked complete, or 7 days for Top Rated freelancers (Fiverr’s help center adds Seller Plus and Pro). Top Rated freelancers and Seller Plus Premium members can skip the wait with Early Payout for 1% of what they earned on the order: $4.00 on a $500 order.
Withdrawal fees are set by the payment provider: PayPal is free, Payoneer charges $1 for a US-dollar bank transfer and $3 for a local-currency transfer or a Payoneer account, and the old Fiverr Revenue Card charges $1 or $3 for existing cardholders. Each withdrawal is capped at $5,000, so larger balances take several withdrawals and pay the fee each time. Payoneer and PayPal may also convert at their own rate, so the amount that lands can be a little lower.
Sellers in India also have tax withheld on the full transaction price, not just the 80% they receive: 0.5% GST TCS and 0.1% TDS under Section 194-O, or 5% TDS without a PAN on file. Here is a $100 order in each market, withdrawn the usual way (PayPal in the US, a Payoneer local bank transfer elsewhere):
| Market | Sale | Fees | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🇺🇸 United States | $100.00 | $20.00 20.0% | $80.00 |
| 🇮🇳 India | $100.00 | $23.60 23.6% | $76.40 |
| 🌍 Other countries | $100.00 | $23.00 23.0% | $77.00 |
Ways to keep more of each sale
- Price at $200, not just under it. If a package lands between $197 and $199.99, $200 is cheaper for the buyer and pays you slightly more.
- Withdraw in batches. The fee is per withdrawal, so let several orders clear and take them out together. A US-dollar bank transfer through Payoneer costs $1 instead of $3, if your bank handles dollars well.
- Use PayPal where it works for you. Fiverr and PayPal charge nothing to withdraw, though PayPal’s own conversion applies if you change currency.
- Count coupons at their real cost. A coupon comes entirely out of your earnings: 10% off a $100 order costs you $8.00.
- Add your PAN in India. It cuts TDS from 5% to 0.1%: $71.50 instead of $76.40 kept from a $100 order shows the difference.
- Use Early Payout only when cash flow needs it. It costs 1% of the order’s earnings each time.
