Etsy charges up to seven different fees on one order, and they don’t all apply to the same amount. Some are taken from the item price only, some from the price plus shipping, and one from everything the buyer pays, sales tax included. The calculator above applies each fee to exactly the base Etsy names in its policy, shows the arithmetic on every line, and rounds each line separately the way your Payment account lists them.
Every Etsy fee at a glance
These are the fees for a shop paid out to a US bank account. Pick another country in the calculator to see its rates.
| Fee | Amount | Charged on | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | US$0.20 | Each listing, each 4-month renewal, each item sold | Every salesource |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | Item price + shipping + gift wrap (not sales tax) | Every salesource |
| Payment processing | 3% + $0.25 | Everything the buyer pays, incl. shipping and tax | Every salesource |
| Offsite Ads | 15% or 12%, max US$100 | Item price + shipping + gift wrap | Only orders from an Etsy ad on another sitesource |
| Currency conversion | 2.5% | The sale amount | Listing currency ≠ payment account currencysource |
| Texas sales tax on fees | 6.25% × 80% | Transaction fees | Sellers located in Texassource |
| Share & Save | −6.5% (credit) | Item price + shipping + gift wrap | Sales through your own share linksource |
Three of them catch most sellers out:
- The transaction fee is charged on shipping too. 6.5% of what the buyer pays for postage and gift wrap appears on your statement as a separate “transaction fee: shipping” line.
- Processing is charged on sales tax. Etsy collects US sales tax for the state, but the 3% processing fee is calculated on the full amount the buyer pays, tax included. On a $30 order with 8% tax that is about 7 cents more.
- The $0.20 listing fee repeats. You pay it when you list, every four months when the listing renews, and again when an item sells with stock left or when a buyer orders more than one.
What you keep at common prices
Each row assumes a US shop, a domestic buyer, $5 shipping charged and no Offsite Ad.
| Item price | Total fees | Fee rate | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| $10.00 | $1.88 | 12.5% | $13.12 |
| $15.00 | $2.36 | 11.8% | $17.64 |
| $20.00 | $2.83 | 11.3% | $22.17 |
| $25.00 | $3.31 | 11.0% | $26.69 |
| $35.00 | $4.26 | 10.7% | $35.74 |
| $50.00 | $5.68 | 10.3% | $49.32 |
| $75.00 | $8.06 | 10.1% | $71.94 |
| $100.00 | $10.43 | 9.93% | $94.57 |
| $200.00 | $19.93 | 9.72% | $185.07 |
Cheap items lose a bigger share: the $0.25 processing fee and the $0.20 listing fee are the same on a $10 item as on a $200 one, so a $10 item with $5 shipping gives up 12.5% of the order while a $200 item gives up under 10%.
How the fees add up on one order
A $25 item with $5 shipping, sold to a buyer who pays 8% sales tax:
- Buyer pays$32.40
- Listing fee$0.20 × 1 item−$0.20
- Transaction fee6.5% × $25.00−$1.63
- Transaction fee: shipping6.5% × $5.00−$0.33
- Payment processing3% × $32.40 + $0.25−$1.22
- You keep$26.62
The buyer pays $32.40. The two transaction fee lines come to $1.96, processing is 3% of $32.40 plus $0.25, and the listing fee is $0.20. Sales tax passes through Etsy to the state, so it never reaches you, but it still raised the processing fee.
Offsite Ads: the fee that changes the math
If a buyer reaches your shop through an Etsy ad on Google, Instagram or another site and buys within 30 days, Etsy adds 15% of the order (item, shipping and gift wrap). Once your shop has sold US$10,000 in any 12-month period the rate drops to 12%, but you can no longer opt out. Either way the fee is capped at US$100 per order.
You don’t choose which orders come from these ads, so a sensible check is to price for the worst case: turn on “Yes · 15%” above and make sure the sale still makes money. If it doesn’t, either raise the price or, below the US$10,000 threshold, opt out in your shop settings.
Fees outside the United States
The 6.5% transaction fee and the US$0.20 listing fee are the same everywhere. What changes is processing, a regulatory operating fee in some countries, and tax on Etsy’s own fees.

- Processing depends on the country of your bank account: 4% + £0.20 in the UK, 4% + €0.30 in the euro countries, and 3% domestic / 4% international in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
- The regulatory operating fee went up on June 22, 2026 in the UK (0.32% → 0.48%), France, Italy and Spain, and was cut in Canada to 0.50%. Many calculators online still use the old rates.
- VAT or GST on fees is added for sellers who haven’t given Etsy a VAT number: 20% in the UK, 19% in Germany, 10% GST in Australia. The table above includes it, because most small shops pay it.
- Currency conversion: if your listings are priced in a different currency from your payment account, Etsy takes another 2.5%. Listing in your account’s currency avoids it.
Ways to keep more of each sale
- Price for the whole order, not the item. Because shipping is charged the same 6.5%, raising the item price and offering free shipping costs exactly the same in fees. Choose whichever converts better.
- Sell bundles. One order pays one $0.25 processing fee, so two items in one order keep more than two separate sales.
- Use Share & Save. Sales that come through your own share link get 4% of the order back, and 6.5% until January 4, 2027 during the holiday promotion, which cancels the transaction fee.
- Add your VAT number if you have one, so Etsy stops adding VAT to its fees.
- Watch the Offsite Ads threshold. Below US$10,000 a year you can opt out; above it, build the 12% into your prices.
