How the fees work
Poshmark charges sellers a flat $2.95 on sales under $15 and 20% on sales of $15 or more, on the sale price only. The buyer pays the shipping label, $6.49 for up to 5 lb (Poshmark Fee Policy, Shipping Policy).
Depop charges US sellers 0% selling fee on listings created since the fee change, plus payment processing of 3.3% + $0.45 on everything the buyer pays (item, shipping and tax). A 12% boosting fee applies only when a sale comes from a boosted listing. Buyers pay a marketplace fee of up to 5% + $1 on top (Depop: zero selling fees).

Depop vs Poshmark on identical sales
We ran four price points through both calculators on October 24, 2026. On Poshmark the buyer pays the $6.49 label; on Depop the seller ships and pays postage out of the $6.49 charged, so we subtract it. The column is what you keep after postage.
| $40 item | Fees | Fee rate | You keep after postage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Depop | $1.98 | 4.26% | $38.02 |
| Depop · boosted sale | $7.56 | 16.3% | $32.44 |
| Poshmark | $8.00 | 20.0% | $32.00 |
| Item price | Depop (after postage) | Poshmark | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| $12 | $10.94 | $9.05 | +$1.89 Depop |
| $25 | $23.51 | $20.00 | +$3.51 Depop |
| $40 | $38.02 | $32.00 | +$6.02 Depop |
| $100 | $96.04 | $80.00 | +$16.04 Depop |
The gap grows with price because Poshmark’s fee is a percentage and Depop’s is mostly a small processing fee. Only a boosted Depop sale narrows it: on $40 a boosted sale leaves $32.44, roughly level with Poshmark.
Poshmark vs Depop for Sellers: Fees, Buyers and Speed
Fees are only half the decision; the other half is who shops where.
- Buyers. Depop’s audience leans younger and searches for vintage, streetwear, Y2K and one-off pieces. Poshmark’s audience is broader and shops brands they know, from mall labels to designer.
- Shipping. Poshmark’s prepaid label is the simplest system in resale: one price up to 5 lb, printed from the app. On Depop you can use Depop’s label or ship yourself; either way, budget the postage carefully, because underpriced shipping comes out of your payout.
- Speed. Poshmark’s “sharing” and bundles reward sellers who are active daily. Depop rewards good photos and styling; listings with on-body shots and clear measurements move faster.
- Offers. Both platforms are offer-driven, and every discount comes straight out of what you keep, with Poshmark’s 20% still taken from the lower price.

Costs that aren’t on the fee line
- Heavy items on Poshmark. The $6.49 label covers up to 5 lb. Heavier packages cost the buyer an extra $5.00 (5.01–10 lb) or $10.00 (10.01–15 lb), which can put buyers off boots and coats (Shipping Policy).
- Shipping discounts. On both apps, any shipping discount you offer comes out of your earnings. A “free shipping” offer on Poshmark costs you the full label.
- Underpriced postage on Depop. If you ship yourself and charge less than the real postage, the difference is yours to pay. Weigh items before you list.
- Boosting on Depop. The 12% fee only applies when a buyer saw the boosted listing within 28 days before buying, but on a $100 sale that’s $12.
Which to choose, by item
- Vintage, Y2K, streetwear, one-offs: Depop first. The buyers are there and the fees are lower.
- Mall brands, workwear, kids’ clothes: Poshmark often sells faster; cross-list on Depop if you have time.
- Designer pieces: both work. Poshmark’s brand-led search suits recognisable labels, but on a $500 item its 20% is $100, so compare the payout difference before you list there first.
- Under $15: Poshmark’s $2.95 flat fee is steep on a $10 item; Depop keeps more, and bundling helps on both.
Offers and discounts: what a lower price really costs
Both apps run on offers, and the fee structure decides how much an offer hurts. Accept $32 for a $40 listing and you keep $25.60 on Poshmark (20% still comes off) or $30.28 on Depop after postage. On Poshmark, an 8-dollar discount costs you $6.40; on Depop it costs you about $7.74, because there’s almost no percentage fee to absorb part of it.
That flips a common habit. On Poshmark it’s worth pricing with room for offers, since the fee shrinks with the price. On Depop, price closer to what you’ll accept and expect fewer, smaller offers.
Pricing to keep the same amount on both
To keep $30 after fees and postage:
- Poshmark: list at $37.50. 20% of $37.50 is $7.50, and the buyer pays the label.
- Depop: list at about $31.75 plus $6.49 shipping, which leaves $30.04 after processing and postage.
So the same piece can sit about $6 cheaper on Depop and pay you the same, a real edge when buyers compare listings. Our calculators do this in reverse: switch either one to What to charge and enter what you want to keep.
Selling in the UK?
Poshmark’s fees above are for the US. In the UK, Depop also has a 0% selling fee, with payment processing of 2.9% + £0.30 and buyers paying a marketplace fee on top. A £30 item with £4 postage leaves about £28.71 after processing and postage. The main UK alternative is Vinted, where sellers pay nothing at all; see Vinted vs Depop.
Cross-listing without the headache
Most experienced resellers list on both and delist when something sells. It takes discipline: an item that sells twice means a cancelled order and a disappointed buyer, so update the second listing the moment the first one sells. Keep prices consistent, factor each platform’s fee into the price (switch our calculators to What to charge and enter what you want to keep), and set shipping on Depop so it covers your real postage.
