How the fees work
Vinted charges sellers nothing. Buyers pay a Vinted fee of 5% + $0.70 in the US (5% + £0.70 in the UK, VAT included) on the item price, plus the prepaid shipping label. Withdrawing your balance to a bank is free.
Depop charges sellers no selling fee on listings created since its fee change, but you pay payment processing: 3.3% + $0.45 in the US and 2.9% + £0.30 in the UK, on everything the buyer pays (item, shipping, tax). A 12% boosting fee applies only when a sale comes from a boosted listing. Buyers pay a marketplace fee of up to 5% + $1 (or £1) on top (Depop: zero selling fees).

Vinted vs Depop on identical sales (US)
We ran three US sales through both calculators on October 24, 2026, with $6.49 shipping. On Vinted the buyer pays the label; on Depop we assume you ship and subtract the postage. The column is what you keep after postage.
| US sale, $6.49 shipping | Fees | Fee rate | You keep after postage |
|---|---|---|---|
| $15 · Vinted | $0.00 | 0.00% | $15.00 |
| $15 · Depop | $1.16 | 5.40% | $13.84 |
| $40 · Vinted | $0.00 | 0.00% | $40.00 |
| $40 · Depop | $1.98 | 4.26% | $38.02 |
| $100 · Vinted | $0.00 | 0.00% | $100.00 |
| $100 · Depop | $3.96 | 3.72% | $96.04 |
The gap is small: $1.16 on $15, $1.98 on $40, $3.96 on $100. And buyers pay almost the same total: a $40 item costs a US buyer $49.19 on Vinted and $49.49 on Depop, because both add their buyer fee and postage. So the decision is mostly about where your buyers are.
Depop vs Vinted in the US and UK: Fee Breakdown
| UK sale, £3.50 postage | Fees | Fee rate | You keep after postage |
|---|---|---|---|
| £15 · Vinted | £0.00 | 0.00% | £15.00 |
| £15 · Depop | £0.84 | 4.54% | £14.16 |
| £40 · Vinted | £0.00 | 0.00% | £40.00 |
| £40 · Depop | £1.56 | 3.59% | £38.44 |
| £100 · Vinted | £0.00 | 0.00% | £100.00 |
| £100 · Depop | £3.30 | 3.19% | £96.70 |
In the UK, Depop’s processing is lower (2.9% + 30p), so the gap is even smaller: about 84p on £15, £1.56 on £40 and £3.30 on £100. UK buyers pay Vinted’s 5% + £0.70 (or 8% + £0.30 in the Kids catalogue) on top of your price, which Vinted shows on every listing.

Who sells faster, and why
Fees are close; audiences aren’t.
- Depop is a style-led marketplace. Buyers browse by aesthetic, and photos that show the piece worn, styled and in good light sell. Vintage, Y2K, streetwear, designer one-offs and independent labels do best.
- Vinted is a volume marketplace for everyday secondhand clothes, especially in the UK and Europe. Buyers search by brand and size and expect bargains; high-street brands, kids’ clothes and basics move quickly.
- Pricing behaviour differs. Vinted buyers see your price plus their fee and often send offers; Depop buyers expect the price to reflect the style, and well-photographed pieces hold their price better.
So a pair of mid-range jeans probably sells faster on Vinted, while a 1990s band tee might fetch more on Depop. If you’re not sure which camp an item falls into, list it on both for two weeks and see where the views and offers come from; that tells you more about your stock than any guide.
What each charges besides the fee
- Depop boosting. Boosted listings cost 12% of the item price (plus shipping if you ship yourself) when the buyer saw the boosted listing within 28 days before buying.
- Vinted Bumps. Optional paid promotion for a listing, shown before you buy it. Vinted’s wardrobe-wide Showcase isn’t offered in the US.
- Shipping. Vinted labels are paid by the buyer. On Depop you can use Depop’s label, paid from the buyer’s shipping, or ship yourself. If you undercharge for postage, the difference comes out of your payout.

A wardrobe clear-out in numbers
Say you’re clearing 30 items at around £15 each in the UK. Sold on Vinted you keep about £450; on Depop, after processing and postage, about £425. That £25 difference is real, but it’s smaller than the price difference between selling in the right month and the wrong one, or between good and bad photos. Fees decide the tie-break, not the winner.
Listing for each audience
On Depop, sell the look. Shoot the piece worn or styled, in daylight, and use the first photo as a cover image that would stop a scroll. Tag the era, the fit and the style (“90s”, “oversized”, “Y2K”), because Depop buyers search by vibe as much as by brand. Price with a little room, but not much: Depop buyers expect style pieces to cost what they’re worth.
On Vinted, sell the facts. Brand, size, condition and measurements in the first lines; clear flat-lay photos; and a price that looks fair next to the buyer fee they’ll see at checkout. Bundles do well, because Vinted buyers like to combine items to save on postage. Respond to offers quickly: a fast, friendly reply often closes the sale.
Getting paid
Vinted pays your sale into your Vinted Balance, and withdrawing it to your bank is free; Vinted says it can take up to five business days. On Depop, money from sales comes through Depop Payments, with processing taken from each sale. Either way, use tracked postage and keep the receipt: if a parcel goes missing, the tracking record is what settles the case in your favour, on both apps. Check the payout settings in each app before your first sale, so you know where the money goes and how long it takes to arrive.
Our recommendation
- UK seller with everyday clothes: Vinted first. Zero seller fees and the biggest audience.
- UK seller with vintage or designer pieces: list on both; Depop’s buyers may pay more for style.
- US seller with vintage, streetwear or Y2K: Depop first; cross-list on Vinted as its US audience grows.
- US seller with brand basics: consider Poshmark and Mercari too; see the best place to sell clothes online.
Price from what you want to keep: switch the Depop calculator to What to charge and enter your target; on Vinted, your price is what you keep. Selling in the UK more broadly? eBay UK private sellers pay no final value fee either; see the eBay fee calculator UK.
